A submersible that is used to explore the wreckage of the Titanic — which sank on its maiden voyage between Southampton and New York in April 1912 with 2224 people on board — lost contact with the research vessel Polar Prince less than two hours after having started the descent on Sunday morning.
The dive started at 2.00 AM Eastern Time.
As of Tuesday morning, Jun 20, rescue crews are still scrambling to try and locate a submersible vessel carrying 5 people that went missing while attempting to visit the deep-sea wreckage of the Titanic in the North Atlantic.
OceanGate Expeditions organizes eight-day underwater trips to the vessel’s wreckage.
