Who invented the flush toilet in the Renaissance?

It was invented in 1596 by Sir John Harrington.

He installed one for his godmother, the Queen Elizabeth 1

Sir John Harington was born in 4 August 1560 and died 20 November 1612. He was an English courtier, author and translator, and the inventor of the flush toilet.

He was educated in Cambridge.

He was a godson of Queen Elizabeth I, but he had been banished from court for telling risk, and strange stories, and exiled to Kelston near Bath.
