Discovering If Something Is Just an Illusion
Our minds always construct our experience of reality
It's interesting how many times I feel something is an illusion…
There are several approaches you can take to determine whether something you’re experiencing is an illusion
Trust multiple senses.
Our different senses can verify each other.
If you see something unusual, try to touch it or listen to it.
Illusions often affect only one sense while leaving others unaffected.
This cross-checking between senses helps establish a more reliable perception of reality.
Seek independent verification.
Ask others if they perceive what you’re perceiving.
While mass illusions can occur, having multiple independent observers confirm an experience makes it less likely to be purely illusory.
Different people with different perspectives can help triangulate what’s real.
Change your perspective.
Physical illusions often break down when viewed from different angles or distances.
Move around the object or phenomenon in question.
