It was immortalized in the voice of Carmen Miranda, and it became one of the most well-known Brazilian songs in the world.

José Gomes de Abreu, better known as Zequinha de Abreu (September 19, 1880 — January 22, 1935) was a Brazilian musician and composer.

He is best known for the famous choro tune “Tico-Tico no Fubá” (1917), whose original title was “Tico-Tico no Farelo”.

Carmem Miranda contributed to the song to becoming an international hit by recording it in the USA in 1945 and singing it in the film Copacabana (1947), with the participation of Groucho Marx.
