Embrace the Unpredictability to Foster Trust
Expecting changes.
Trust is often associated with predictability.
We trust people or institutions when we can predict their behavior or outcomes with a reasonable degree of certainty.
However, there are situations where trust can be built on unpredictability.
When we trust someone, we believe that they have our best interests at heart and that they will act in a way that is consistent with our expectations.
But, life is inherently unpredictable, and circumstances can change rapidly.
In such situations, trust can be built not on predictability, but on the ability to adapt and respond to changing circumstances.
For example, imagine a leader who is facing a crisis.
They may not have all the answers, and the situation may be constantly evolving.
In such a scenario, the leader’s ability to be honest and transparent about what they do and do not know, and their willingness to take decisive action, can build trust among their followers.
