IKEA: The Ceiling Revolution, Unveiling the Advantages of Going Exposed
An IKEA-Inspired Journey of Hope. An unsolicited proposal. Hospital Ceilings Reimagined by the author.
Instead, the ceiling you can see in a hospital room is a blank wall. You see nothing.
Why not use something more inspirational like the structural elements of a building’s ceiling are left visible rather than covered up and art?
Put art on the ceiling!
An exposed ceiling is an architectural and interior design approach where the structural elements of a building’s ceiling are left visible rather than covered up.
Examples:
Beams: Wooden, steel, or concrete support beams are uncovered.
Ductwork: HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) ducts are visible.
Pipes: Plumbing and electrical conduits remain in view.
Wiring: Electrical wiring may be exposed, though this is less common due to safety regulations.
