Must Start Before Ready

Life rarely waits for perfect preparation.

Life rarely waits for perfect preparation.

Chris discovered this at 4:27 AM, his fingertips hovering over his laptop keyboard when its power flickered once and died.

The deadline was 9 AM.

His document sat blank.

Instead of panicking, he grabbed a notebook.

I started writing by candlelight.

The words flowed differently on paper — raw, honest, unfiltered by the backspace key.

No internet meant no research rabbit holes, no distractions.

When power returned at dawn, he had three chapters.

Not polished, but real.

The kind of writing he’d been afraid to attempt when everything was “perfect.”

Sometimes, he realized, readiness is just another word for fear.

And fear only dissolves through action.

He typed the last word at 8:59 AM, hit send, and smiled.

The story wasn’t perfect, but it was better than the one he would have written if he’d waited to be ready.
