People That Live Under the River
They are called the Aquarians—a fictional story.

The people that live under the river are called the Aquarians. They may have gills, scales, and webbed fingers and toes.
They can breathe water and air but they prefer to stay in their underwater kingdom.
The Aquarians have a rich and ancient culture based on harmony, wisdom, and magic.
They worship the river as their mother and the moon as their guide. They have a king and a queen who rule with kindness and justice.
They have a council of elders who advise them on important matters.
They have a school of mages who practice the art of water magic.
The Aquarians are peaceful and friendly, but they are also secretive and cautious.
They rarely interact with the people who live on the land, whom they call the Terrans.
They have heard the Terrans fight, lie, and cheat.
They have felt the Terrans’ greed, hatred, and fear.
One day, a young Aquarian named Nixie decided to explore the surface world.

She was curious and adventurous and wanted to see what the Terrans were like.
She waited until the night when the moon was full she swam to the shore.
She hid behind a rock, and she watched the Terrans.
She saw a group of Terran children playing with a ball. They laughed, ran, and kicked the ball.
They seemed happy and harmless.
Nixie felt a surge of wonder and joy.
She wanted to join them, to play with them, to befriend them.
She stepped out of the water and walked towards them.
She smiled, and she waved. She said hello.
The Terran children saw her, and they screamed.
They saw her as a monster, a freak, a threat.
