In digital imaging, a pixel, or picture element is the smallest addressable element in a raster image or the smallest addressable element in an all points addressable display device; so it is the smallest controllable element of a picture represented on the screen. Wikipedia.

Digital imaging is the creation of a representation of the visual characteristics of an object.

Pixel art is a form of digital art, created through the use of software, where images are edited on the pixel level.

In most pixel art, the color palette used is limited in size, with some pixel art using only two colors.

A pixel is generally thought of as the smallest single component of a digital image.
