Queen Elizabeth was a prolific art collector along with the rest of the British royal family.

The British royal family owns the largest private art collection in the world, known as the Royal Collection Trust.

It's one of the world’s greatest art collections.

It has over one million objects.

The collection is spread across over a dozen royal residences, some of which are open to the public.

I'm very glad to know that Queen Elizabeth’s art collection has around 7,000 paintings, 40,000 drawings, and 150,000 prints.

This collection includes masterpieces by Caravaggio, Vermeer, Rembrandt, Rubens, and Bruegel the Elder, as well as Andrea Mantegna’s 1484–92 series “The Triumphs of Caesar” in Hampton Court Palace.

The seven cartoons from the “Acts of the Apostles” tapestries Raphael made for the Sistine Chapel (1515–16).

And has around 600 drawings by Leonardo da Vinci at Windsor Castle.

Below are some of the important artworks in the Royal Collection.

By William Scrots.
