The Future of Art: AI as a Creative Partner
AI is my assistant in my creative process.
The art world is seeing a profound transformation as artificial intelligence (AI) increasingly becomes a creative partner to artists.
The marriage of human creativity and machine intelligence is giving birth to new forms of expression, challenging the notions of art and pushing the boundaries of what is possible.

How I created the image above…
I came across a parade last week in Porto and got some photos. I merged one of them with one of my digital paintings with the help of an AI.
Photoshop wouldn’t do the same thing. He would place one image on top of the other and that’s it.
Creativity and AI work together to create new things.
Generative art, where artworks are created using autonomous systems, has emerged as a fertile ground for AI’s influence.
Artists are harnessing the power of machine learning algorithms to generate unique and ever-changing visual compositions, blurring the line between creator and creation.
These algorithms can analyze vast datasets of existing artworks, identify patterns, and generate entirely new pieces that mimic or even surpass human styles.
One remarkable example is the work of artist Refik Anadol, who uses machine learning to interpret vast amounts of data and translate it into mesmerizing audio-visual installations.

His piece “Machine Hallucination” is a stunning display of AI-generated imagery, where the algorithm hallucinates a constantly evolving landscape of shapes, colors, and textures, creating an immersive and hypnotic experience for the viewer.

AI is also enabling artists to create interactive installations that respond to the presence and actions of viewers.
