Before Your Trip
Know the Airline’s Policies
- Each airline has specific age requirements and procedures for unaccompanied minors
- Most airlines charge extra fees for this service (typically $50–150 each way)
- Some airlines require booking by phone rather than online
- Confirm whether service is available on connecting flights or only nonstop flights
Prepare Your Documentation
- Bring a valid ID (school ID, passport, or birth certificate)
- Carry the completed airline’s unaccompanied minor form
- Have contact information for both the person dropping you off and the person picking you up
- Keep a copy of your itinerary with flight numbers and times
Pack Strategically
- Bring a small carry-on with essentials (don’t check everything)
- Include snacks, as meal service may be limited
- Pack entertainment: books, tablet (fully charged), headphones
- Bring a portable charger for electronics
