What is Viva Magenta?

"Pantone’s Color of the Year, Viva Magenta 18–1750, vibrates with vim and vigor. It is a shade rooted in nature descending from the red family and expressive of a new signal of strength. Viva Magenta is brave and fearless, and a pulsating color whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration, writing a new narrative." — Pantone.

Color of the year 2023. From Pantone.

Magenta got its name in 1860 from this aniline dye that was originally called “fuchsine”, after the fuchsia flower.

The color magenta was created by a French chemist, who named it after a battle between French-Sardinian forces and Austria which took place in a town of the same name in Italy on June 4, 1859.
