What is Deconstructivism in Architecture and Art

Deconstructivism is not a new architecture style, or an avant-garde movement against architecture or society.

It is the release of possibilities of making projects and playing around with forms, shapes and volumes in architecture.

It’s a movement of postmodern architecture which showed up in the 1980s.

Deconstructivism is the demolish… of a constructed structure.

It can be for structural reasons, site condition or just an act of rebellion.

Because it can looks as a anarchy… many people misunderstand the deconstructivist movement.

Sometimes it gives the impression of the discontinuity of the developed structure.

And the fragmentation of the constructed building.

It is characterized by an absence of harmony, continuity, or symmetry.

Its name comes from the idea of “Deconstruction”, a form of semiotic analysis developed by the French philosopher Jacques Derrida.
