"I have gas mask in my office because I took Chem/bio warfare training class so I can report in case of an attack. It’s on a copy of my head made by Madame Tussauds "— Anderson Cooper.

On April 22, 1915, during their attack on the French, Germany became the first military to utilize chemical warfare with chlorine gas.

Then a gas mask began to be used.

A gas mask protects you from inhaling airborne pollutants.

Smoke particles can rapidly clog gas mask filters, and filters with special chemicals are needed to protect against carbon monoxide and other gases that may occur in a fire.

But not all gas masks and escape respirators protect against these hazards.

How long can you wear a gas mask?

They are typically designed for one-time use for a short period, typically 15 minutes to 1 hour. They may be available in a variety of sizes and will fit most adults.

The mask forms a cover over the nose and mouth, but may also cover the eyes and other parts of the face.

The word gas mask is often used to refer to military equipment.
